“Creating” for 51 of his 69 years, has been rewarding on many levels. It inspires Sargis to work on multiple projects, seeking a hit that will result in revenues that will ultimately satisfy his philanthropic desires in the end.
Sargis makes it a ritual to keep busy contributing on a smaller local scale through one of his many businesses, such as creating and coordinating a massive Christmas Light Parade on the streets of his hometown. He is active for over 30 years with the Salvation Army and for a time was on the board. An honor for him was recruited by MDA and other non profits to join them in a creative fundraising capacity.
Sargis originated his energetic trek at the youthful age of 15 with his efforts in trying to obtain a US Patent for an audio cassette holder that proof to be beyond his financial means. Just out of high school he had the “persistence” to go through over a dozen city council and planning commission meetings to finally get a rezoning permit to open (and later sell) his first of what would be a half-dozen commercial brick and mortar businesses between ages 17 and 28. These included a family recreation center, one of the first sports themed restaurants in California, the very first video rental store in his county and at age 19, Sargis began penning what would be the accomplishment of the first of nine screenplays and teleplays for which he optioned multiple options with major production companies while at Cal State Northridge radio, television and film department.
It would be only the beginning of many creative and highly original ventures that Sargis would follow through with over the next four decades.
This was never more true with his optioned screenplays, "Hey, Fat!", "5 Bullets for my 5 Brothers", "Thieves of Liberty" and his holiday tent pole screenplay, “The 23 Odd Santa’s That Got Together to Save Our Christmas”. "23 Santas was written to cast these wonderful 23 cameo roles with major talent and entice them to take Sargis’s lead to make the entire project a vehicle for fundraising for their individual charities. He promoted it much like the highly successful concept that drew talent together for a cause, taking a chapter from the awareness and fundraising success of the 1980s “We Are the World” and that magnificent gathering of talent. Over a dozen celebrities, including Robin Williams, Dan Aykroyd, and John Travolta showed great interest in, went as far as selecting which Santa character they wished to portray. That exciting time fell just short of actually seen the project come to fruition in the late 1990s but is being revisited to complete the task with today’s acting talent.
Along the way, Sargis was recognized as the youngest writer (at the time) to have his screenplay optioned with a production company in conjunction with CBS Studios, at age 19; he was the first trailblazer in the video rental business in northern California's Stanislaus county, and then the first in the nation to implement the renting of video games in 1980.
In 2023 Sargis was encouraged by a Facebook post that received hundreds of responses about their 1980s video store and
was motivated to put his writing a talent to work and in 2024, and put together a semi-true story, cast local actors and a crew and pened and produced the nostalgic look back at that memorable decade of a 1980s VHS and video rental store.
They completed shooting and editing in the winter of 2025 to place it in the hands of an international sales agency in order to promote it at various film, festivals and streaming services. They will continue on with the project, moving it forward into an episodic series based on their feature film titled, "VHS Forever! Hollywood".
Sargis will tell you he is excited as he not only nears the completion of his first novel, based on his previously optioned original screenplay, “The Thieves of Liberty” as well as two game show pilots and accompaning board games, that is just hard to turn off the creative juices that's flow in his veins.
Sargis admits he is torn between continuing to create, nurture and eventually market his various commercial and e-commerce products and his cinematic ventures. His inspiration comes from his supportive family, including his wife of 36 years who describes him as a cross between Jackie Gleason’s Ralph Cramdon and pitchmen Billy Mayes and Anthony Sullivan, wrapped into one, only wishing her husband had "Elon’s" working capital. He will tell you the most rewarding part of his creative life has been directed at
developing new, innovative, “improvement” products and businesses. Since late 2006, over forty projects, concepts, products and/or scripts have been been in various stages of completion or development.
His most satisfying US patent was with Book Light Stories, (the inclusion of hundreds of fiber optic strands to illuminate illustrations in his children’s books series) and was rewarding but will pale in comparison to a number of Sargis' newest products he has featured on this “invitation only” showcase website to attract working capital and investors.
He was the first to take the new, redesigned ‘98 VW Bug and introduce it as a primary vehicle in is now 30 year-old driving school he and his wife Christina own and as featured in VW’s national publication. In 2003, they were asked to be showcased in the Food Network's series, Kitchen Inventors.
With his two partners, the recently launched e-commerce sites, Safety Dog Leash with partner, Scott Schwartz, famous for his portrayal of the character "Flick" in the classic 1983 "A Christmas Story" and his SportsBalls2U,“message on a ball“, as him currently working with an unnamed major league sports star to also partner with his along with his two other lifelong friends and partners, seeking a branding opportunity with a named professional sports figure. (George Foreman was slated to be that individual and was in talks a few years prior to his death.) All are considered vehicles for his long desired philanthropy goals, with great possibilities.
“There will always be the good timing or the bad timing with any concept. Focus on being the first to the marketplace, being the first to lock-in the right contract, knowing there are to the victors, rewards to be used wisely. In life one has to keep calm, be a little crazy, be a lot, generous, help others, create laughter, love and live it up because this is the oldest you've been and the youngest you'll ever be!”

"It is the daily creative
thought or idea, the opportunity to try and the elation of taking a project or product to the next level in some form or another; this is his life's blood.
The CEO of Book Light, Inc. Cholding the US patent for fiber optics in books) and COO of ADi Films, Inc. based in Northern California, believes in two key elements, "persistence" and "tenacity" as a model for success."
